MH – HTMK 14: Incredible Hill Tribe Market Tour ( 3 days and 2 nights)

Itinerary:

Day 1-Sunday: (B,L) Meet your guide at Lao Cai station, drive up the mountain road to Sa Pa then continue over the Silver Waterfall & Heaven Gate, the highest mountain pass in Viet Nam at 2047M. From there we drive down to the town of Binh Lu (2:30hrs). Binh Lu is one of the most interesting markets to visit; you will find Red Hmong, Dzay, Lu and Thai minority people trading together. Continue along the way to Tam Duong market. This vibrant market attracts Hmong dressed in colorful skirts, Black Dzao and and White Thai. After lunch trek through tea plantations, terrace rice field and farmland to local villages of Day, Red Hmong, Black Dao and Lu minority people. Trek down to Ban Hon village and return to Tam Duong town for dinner. Overnight in the Hotel.

Day 2-Monday: (B,L) After breakfast in Tam Duong, we drive to Muong So (30km/1hr). Explore off the beaten track to the hill tribe market in the remote countryside, where you will see White Thai, Black Thai & Hmong. Then we drive back up over the mountain to Sa Pa. Check in to your hotel and have lunch in a restaurant. Enjoy the Hoang Lien mountain range, home to Mt. Fansipan, the roof of Indochina at 3143M above the sea level. Take a car ride down the valley to visit the Black Hmong minority people of Lao Chai village. From there trek down to see the Day tribe of Ta Van village. At the end of the day you will be picked up by car to be returned to Sa Pa. Overnight in the Hotel.

Day 3-Tuesday: (B,L,D) Depart from Sa Pa to Coc Ly (2:30hrs). Visit the remote attraction of this mountain area: the market on the bank of Chay river. You will see Flower Hmong, the most colorful ethnic group. Their garments show elaborately embroidered spirals. After visiting this vibrant and fascinating market you will take a local boat for a 2hrs trip down the Chay river, stopping along the way to explore the Fairy cave and enjoy a picnic lunch. Trekking to Trung Do village of Tay people.You will be picked up in Bao Nhai then return to Lao Cai. Have a refreshing shower and dinner in restaurant. Catching the night train back to Ha Noi.Trip ends Ha Noi station at 5am.

EXPLORE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VALLEY IN SAPA

Day 1 Saturday(BLD): Departing early from Lao Cai or Sa Pa you will enjoy beautiful scenery and visit Pha Long markets. Very rural seldom visited market, where you can meet ethnic groups that are only found in this particular district of Viet Nam, mostly Hmong, Nung, Tu Di, Pa Di. Along the road, in a landscape of mountain peaks, numerous Nung et Hmong villages. Lots of traditional houses with baked earth tiled roofs. After exploring these markets your car will take you back to Muong Khuong check in to TOM s’ still house. In the afternoon you will visit Ham Rong cave,Pao Tung waterfall. Enjoy dinner at the TOM Bar and overnight in Muong Khuong.

Day 2 Sunday(BL): After breakfast you will explore early market. Muong Khuong is an exotic market, located in a small border town. The market is frequented by Tu Di, Pa Di, Flower H’mong and Dao ethnic minorities. After visiting the market you will have lunch in the local restaurant. You will then visit Ta Chu Phung village of Pa Di minority people. From here you enjoy panorama of Muong Khuong town ,Si Ma Cai town and surrounding villages. Late noon you will get back to Lao Cai station to catch the night train back to Hanoi.

We take a dirt road which leads up into the mountains through Pine Tree forests and villages that surround the tiny markets. Flower H'mong, Tu Di, Tay and Giay ethnic minorities come to trade local products such as food, agricultural supplies and fabric. After exploring these markets your car will take you back to Muong Khuong check in to TOM s’ still house. In the afternoon you will visit Ham Rong cave,Pao Tung waterfall. Enjoy dinner at the TOM Bar and overnight in Muong Khuong.

Day 2 Thursday(BL): An early departure by car from Muong Khuong to Lung Khau Nhin Market . Explore hill tribe market of Black Dao, Tu Di, Tay and Nung ethnic minorities come to buy and sell local products. After exploring the market, your car will transport you back to Muong Khuong for lunch. In the afternoon you will visit Tung Lau village across rice field to Na Hui .You have an oppoturnity to see people distilling wine made from corn, making bacon the traditional way and offering a special corn cake to anyone who drops by their house. Late noon you will get back to Lao Cai station to catch the night train back to Hanoi.

Day 1 Saturday(L): Starting from Sa Pa or Lao Cai, you will first visit Can Cau market. It is small but extremely colorful, set on mountains near the Chinese border. You can see many ethnic minorities people going to the market from the villages to sell or buy goods. The Flower H’mong minority is the most common here, their colorful dresses make it the most beautiful sight. You will spend the whole morning there, then go to Bac Ha for lunch. In the afternoon, you can take an easy trek to Ban Pho villages and visit the old castle of the former H’mong King. You stay overnight at a hotel in Bac Ha.

Day 2 Sunday(BL): We visit the big market and colorful ethnic people of the Flower H'mong, Phu La and Dao Tuyen minorities, who gather here to buy and sell their handicraft products. After spending the morning exploring the market, your lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch we drive downhill to start a short walk to Trung Do Village which is home to the Tay minority. Here you can visit a traditional Tay house. We will then travel by boat through amazing countryside to Bao Nhai Village. Transfer you back to Sa Pa or Lao Cai station at your request.

After an early breakfast in your hotel you will travel to Silver Waterfall and Heaven’s Gate before driving to Lai Chau (approximately 1.5 hours) on the longest and most stunning mountain pass in Viet Nam. Along the way you have many chances to witness the authentic life of local minority people in the northwest of Viet Nam. Arriving at Sin Ho Market around 11am, you will encounter a photogenic display of Red H'mong, Black Dao and Thai ethnic costumes. Chinese people also attend the market for trading. After exploring the market you will leave for a hill tribe village, enjoying a picnic lunch on the way before driving back to Sa Pa in the afternoon.

From Sa Pa we drive to Ban Xeo Village, this drive leads you to a very authentic area that is still not visited by tourists. The bumpy road takes you off the main tourist trail and enables you to discover the unspoiled hill tribe culture. Your driver will transfer you to Muong Hum Market where you discover that you are the only tourist in this impressive local market. Arriving at Bac Ha, we visit the big outdoor market with its colorful ethnic minority people, such as Flower Hmong, Phu La and Dao Tuyen, who gather here to buy and sell their handicraft products. After visiting the market, you will enjoy lunch at a restaurant. We leave Bac Ha Market for Trung Do Village, where we will enjoy a magical water buffalo cart ride while traveling through amazing countryside inhabited by the happy and hospitable Tay minority people. From the village we will travel by boat down the Chay River to experience the picturesque scenery and magnificent sights along the river. After the boat trip we will enjoy a refreshing cup of tea before our driver transports you to either Sa Pa or Lao Cai station at your request.

Situated 20 kilometers from Bac Ha, Can Cau is a small but very colorful market. Opening only on Saturdays, it always delivers a very photogenic display of Flower Hmong , Nung and Phu La ethnic costumes. After spending the morning exploring the market, you will leave for Bac Ha town where you will have lunch. From Bac Ha you drive downhill (1/2 hour) to start a short walk to Trung Do Village which belongs to the Tay minority. You have the opportunity to visit a traditional Tay house. We then travel by boat through amazing countryside to Bao Nhai Village. Transfer to Sa Pa or Lao Cai station.

Travel by by car through Tram Ton Pass. On the way, you can take a short walk to Silver Waterfall and then head to Heaven’s Gate, where you will be amazed by breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains including Mt.
